You hear it all the time, someone is making a killing online and you wonder how they're doing and if you can do it too. You can. A good way to get started making money online when you don't have a product or a service of your own to promote and sell is to become an Affiliate marketer.
As an affiliate marketer you promote and sell someone else's product and receive a commission or a percentage of each sale you make. This means that you don't have to spend a great deal of time developing a product, doing research to see if there's a market for such a product.

What it boils down to is this: You have a website. On your website you promote, sell or have customers subscribe to things for other businesses. Let's say you have an affiliate link on your website that, if clicked on, will direct a visitor to a website where they can purchase . When a visitor clicks on that link, goes to that website and makes a purchase, you get a percentage of that sale.

Your link will send your customer to your sales page as usual, but it will also do something else: you will show your customers a small strip at the top or the bottom of your sales page that contains a message from you. You can tell your visitor they can get more information by going to your blog, or that there is something else they might be interested in and then give them the link. This technique of Link Branding works well and can bring in more profits for your site.

There are so many products, services and businesses out there to promote, how do you know which products to choose? Once you choose a product, how do you know that your Affiliate Marketing strategy is going to be successful?

Tracking and Testing. In order to know if your sales copy is working, you'll need to split test it. This means sending half your visitors to one site with one version and the other half to another site with another version of your sales copy. There are many things you can split test in order to find which portion of your page brings in more conversions. You can split test your headline, first paragraph, colors (yes, color does matter!), a guarantee and even test the product itself. You don't want to be promoting a product that doesn't sell, do you?

Affiliate Marketing can be a very profitable endeavor if you go about it the right way and work smart. Remember to do your homework on the products you want to promote in order to maximize the commissions you'll make.

You can become an affiliate for Amazon or eBay or even Paypal. The products to promote on the Internet are endless and it makes sense for you to sift through them until you find the ones that work best for you and for your clients.
